Women to Watch: Kaci Ackerman, Online Business Manager

Want to get your business streamlined and running smoothly? Kaci Ackerman, owner of Purposeful Systems, is one to chat with FOR SURE.

I stumbled upon Kaci in my first year of running this business and purchased one of her Clickup courses because I was bound and determined to get the backend of my business running smoothly and automated as much as possible. This was hands-down one of the best investments I made.

Kaci and I stayed in touch. She’s a gem of a human being.

And she ALWAYS has the best business advice and little nuggets of truth to give you as reminders as you run along this whole entrepreneurial journey you’re on.

So OF COURSE I asked her to let me interview for the Women to Watch series.

When did you start your business and why?

I started the business in March 2020. When COVID hit, the office I managed closed indefinitely. I didn't like that someone had that much control over my family's finances. I decided to jump into a business course, replaced my income in less than three months, and never returned to my office.

What do you feel makes your audience special?

They get us, and we get them. (By “we”, I mean me and my team) We get where they are in every stage of their business and exactly what they need. It's really special to connect with so many who appreciate us being blunt and straightforward with them about their systems (or lack thereof).

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting their own business?

JUST DO IT. Waiting and thinking you need to do more before getting clients is costing you money.

If you could go back in time and do something differently, what would you do and why?

Honestly, nothing. We worked very hard to get where we are today. We invested in things when needed, upleveled when needed, and did things when they felt scary, alllll the things to really grow the business to where it is today.

How long did it take you to launch your business once you decided to do it?

Immediately, I am not one to procrastinate with things that can make the business lots of money and support my family in new ways. Haha.

How did you promote your website when you first started out? Has anything changed between now and then?

I wouldn't say we promoted it exclusively. We promoted the business and linked my website in every response for people to learn more and book a call with us.

Did you start your email list when you launched? What is the most effective way you have grown your email list?

We had email marketing in 2021 but wasn't consistent until Q1 of 2022. We did a win-back campaign and have been consistent ever since. We send a weekly email and grow via our freebie on Facebook Ads. We grow around 300+ subscribers a month via ads.

What would be your entrance song? You know—the one playing as you walk on stage?

How do you keep track of what you have to do?

ClickUp - it's not only what we specialize in but also makes our business sustainable for growth and scaling.

How do you recharge or take a break from work?

Friends is the best show in the world; I lay on the couch, turn that on, and still laugh after watching all 10 seasons about 20 times. (RIP Matthew Perry) We also love to play cards!

What are you currently reading, or what do you recommend?

I’m in a Book Club Membership focusing on community and fiction-only books. My favorite read this year so far was Find Her by Lisa Gardner
